Tour leader Killian Driscoll and your chauffeur will pick you up from your chosen location, and you’ll start your tour driving out of the city with Killian introducing the day ahead, and answering any questions you may have.
You’ll travel to the Priorat wine region about 90 minutes south of Barcelona, where you will explore the fantastic wineries of one of the world's most celebrated wine regions. The Priorat wine region is home to some of Spain's greatest red wines, and the landscapes are also some of the most stunning and dramatic in Spain too.
We have a short list of personal favourites of organic, award winning wineries we like to visit, and each is unique and appealing depending on the type of private wine tour you would like – tour options include driving or walking through the vineyards, exploring the ancient underground wine cellars, or a combination of these. All of the tours, of course, include wine tastings. (Technical tours on viticulture, oenology, technical tastings etc. are also available).
During the tours you’ll experience first hand the enthusiasm and pride of the local wine producers for their wines and their use of traditional techniques. You'll learn how the Priorat went from a 'normal' Spanish wine region, to one of the most famous in the world in a generation, and you'll meet some of the winemakers responsible for this remarkable revolution. All our short-listed favourites are family-run wineries.
Full Day Tour
For the full day tour (9 hours) you will enjoy a private tour of three wineries, that includes wine tastings along with light snacks (tapas, olives, cheeses etc.). You will also enjoy a leisurely lunch in a local restaurant of your choice or your specially prepared, gourmet Catalan picnic.
